- Shipping
-
Insured express courier, door to door, typically four to six working days including customs. Parcels are declared at invoiced value and insured for the same.
Tracking and the full document set reach you by email before the parcel lands, so your broker or the courier's brokerage can clear it on arrival.
- Duties and taxes
-
Loose polished diamonds (HS 7102) carry 0% duty. Finished jewellery of precious metal (HS 7113) from India is assessed at the Most-Favoured-Nation rate, typically 6.5%. GST of 5% applies at import, or HST in participating provinces such as Ontario. Provincial sales tax may apply separately where your province levies it.
We quote the goods landed and show duty and tax separately. Registered businesses recover GST or HST through input tax credits in the usual way.
- Compliance
-
Canada's measures on Russian-origin diamonds align with the G7, including stones of 0.50 ct and above processed in third countries. Every parcel carries a declaration of non-Russian origin and supporting evidence.
GIA or IGI reports accompany centre stones and pairs. Lab-grown goods are declared as lab-grown on the invoice and the parcel, in line with the Competition Bureau's guidance on jewellery descriptions.
- Marking
-
Canada has no compulsory hallmarking. Quality marks must comply with the Precious Metals Marking Act, so pieces are stamped with the fineness in a recognised form (for example 18K or PT950) alongside your trademark if you supply one.
- Working hours
-
The desk works 10:00 to 19:00 IST, Monday to Saturday. Toronto is nine and a half hours behind in winter and ten and a half in summer, so a brief sent in your afternoon is answered by your next morning. Calls are held in your morning, by appointment.
- Currency and payment
-
Quotes in Canadian dollars. Payment by bank transfer against invoice, with terms agreed per account once we have worked together.
Rates shown are indicative as of October 2026 and confirmed on every quotation. Your customs broker has the final word on classification and valuation.
Brief the desk from Canada.
